Edmonton is the capital of Alberta. It is the second largest city after in the region after Calgary, and the second most highly populated capital after Toronto.

It is named "The Festival City" since it plays host to no less than a dozen festivals like the Edmonton Fringe Festival, as well as important tourist destinations like West Edmonton Mall (North America's Largest Mall and Entertainment Centre) and Fort Edmonton Park (Canada's largest historical park).

The city is also one of the sunniest throughout Canada; daylight and dusk reaches as late as 11:00 PM during the summer months of June and July.

Edmonton also has a dinosaur named after it. Edmontonia is an armoured dinosaur found in Horseshoe Canyon Formation, formerly the Edmonton Formation.

The North Saskatchewan River cuts right through Edmonton, making the city a river valley with the longest connected urban parkland in North America.
