One event that you will visit Calgary for is the famous western-themed Calgary Stampede, which begins the Friday after July 2 and lasts for ten whole days. Calgary played host to the Winter Olympics in 1988, though you can still visit the Canada Olympic Park for a taste of winter sports. Also check out Spruce Meadows is for horseriding/showjumping activities, as well as Race City Motorsport Park is for some fast wheels. Although not for the acrophobic, the Calgary Tower with its clear glass floor will give you the best view of the city--160 meters above ground--as well as the surrounding mountains. Nature lovers will enjoy the Sarcee Trail and the Crowchild Trail. Also visit the Heritage Park, a 66-acre historical village featuring the pioneer life in Alberta. |
